Going home in two days' time. Hmmm, miss this place already but i guess its time to go back. Back to familiarity, a routine lifestyle, safe streets, good food, proper treatment. In short, back to where i belong. hahaha so cheesy, but well, as i was telling beks, i am actually quite adaptable. What it means is that i can pretty much adapt quickly to most environment and start living there. I won't get really homesick or be dying to go back( besides the time when both my mum and i were in China, we called dad in sg to bring us back early haha, but we still had a great time in the end and im so glad we had all those "scary" experiences because they made me wiser). I am a homely person but there is this adventurous streak in me, i don't think i can ever be confined to one place. Don't get me wrong, i love routine. I am a habitual creature, i have been using the same toilet and shower cubicle for the whole month. My slippers are placed in the same spot beside the bed every night.
I guess everyone who comes home from travelling will say the same stuff and dispense the same advise about how you all, if chance permit, should go out and have a look, experience something different. It doesn't have to be far, just step out of that comfort zone for awhile. I think that's why Singaporeans are more open-minded (no, that's not an ironic thing to say because many a times, caucasions are far more myopic than us), because we are so small we feel discontented, we hate sg for having no snow capped mountains, we read and watch tv about the wonderful countries outside sg and we yearn to go. We wished we could study overseas because its better than small small sg and we'll get recognition. We want the laid back, slacker lifestyle out there. You think i'm going to say you ungrateful bunch, singapore's the best....? Nope, i think all these discontentment leads us to go beyond what we have. It's because sg is so small, we develop an inquisitive mind, we go out to explore and we come back a cleverer bunch, less narrow-minded than we all thought we are.
These musings are not random, it's because while i'm here or in the US, i see people who have never even gone out of their state and they really think they're at the best place in the world and they're the best people. Really, don't bother about their bad treatment or snide remarks because we all know, you'll come out the better person.
So, aren't i glad that i live in sg, our favourite pasttime is to travel out of sg, we envy, we learn, we become humble and these experiences will be etched in our minds.
So have i become wiser? haha i've learnt alot, and i thank God for keeping me safe and i'm very very very grateful to my mummy and daddy :)

hey abby, i absolutely concur. thats so true. haha burt i still find it hard to ignore their racist and stupid remarks sometimes. too much angst within HAHA.
